Refurbishment of Gaelic Park
The home of the Gaelic Football and Hurling in Queensland, Gaelic Park at Willawong, was among one of the many premises ravaged by 2011 Brisbane floods, with the club house and grounds being submerged by 2.4 metres of floodwater.
Significant damage to the bar, kitchen, dressing sheds, dance floor, car park, flood lights, amenities, electrics, lumbing, and playing fields was sustained.
Under the leadership of Seamus Sullivan and with the support of the Irish community (near and far), as well as the substantial funding from local/state governments and other corporations, the Association was able to bounce back swiftly, with games re-commencing from mid-2011.
Efforts to improve the facilities at Gaelic Park continue with the Association currently rebuilding dressing rooms, thanks to the support of GAA, Croke Park.

Brisbane GAA Recovers from Floods – Sunday, May 15 – Jermoe Quinn Media
The January floods hit Brisbane hard when their clubhouse went under 2.4 metres of water but the GAA community has rallied to get their games back on track.
On Sunday, May 15, six games were played in stunning sunshine on one pitch while it is hoped that two other pitches will be in use very soon.
